Thomas & Friends Day Out with Thomas at Heber Valley Railroad! May 24 - 27!


Thomas & Friends Day Out with Thomas is coming back to Heber Valley Railroad!!  Be on the look out for a giveaway for 4 tickets!!  We went last year and it was a fun trip for any train fan!  My son especially loved it and was overjoyed the entire time. :)  Along with the train ride and a chance to meet Sir Topham Hatt there will be a petting zoo, miniature golf, bounce houses, face-painting and magic shows...to name a few :)  FUN!

Dates: May 24th through May 27th

Schedule: 10:30 am (excluding May 24th), 11:15 am, 12 noon, 12:45 pm, 1:30 pm, 2:15 pm, 3:00 pm, 3:45 pm, 4:30 pm, 5:15 pm, 6:00 pm (No 5:15 pm, or 6:00 pm on May 26th or May 27th)

Duration: 25 minutes round trip

Fares:
General Admission – $18
Military – $14 (Must present Valid Military ID)
Group (20+ Passengers) – $14 ea 

Important to Know: 
-Please arrive 45 minutes prior to departure.
-Rail cars are heated however we recommend you dress for winter weather.
-Full-service snack car offers food & beverage for purchase throughout ride.
-Outside food and beverages are not allowed.
-Car seats and strollers are not allowed on train.
-Restrooms are available on the train.
-Due to the historic nature of our rail cars, wheelchair access is limited. Please call ahead for additional information.
-We are unable to accommodate dogs on the train.
-All rides and adventures depart from the Heber depot unless noted otherwise.

Freezer Homemade Fries & Sauce

I LOVE fries!  I would make them more but it seems like a hassle when I'm trying to get dinner ready, kids are screaming, and I'm trying to dodge cheerios on the floor.

Then along came freezer fries and my life is far richer (lol)....not the ones you buy at the store that kinda look potato-like, but the real things.  They are also MUCH cheaper.   So instead of letting your potatoes sit around, and hoping that you remember to use them, you can make fries....yum....

First wash and scrub potatoes ( I don't peel because I think it's miserable work)
Cut into 1/2 inch fries
Toss with oil (I usually use Canola)
Add salt and a little sugar (makes them crispy)



Place them on a baking sheets and bake at 475 for 20 minutes (they will only be half cooked)

Gardner Village Series: Country Furniture & Gifts

Gardner Village is a local treasure. If you've never found your way down there, October is the month to do it!  The shop owners love Halloween! The village becomes a witch village and many times, shop owners will even dress up.   On my most recent trip to Gardner Village, I stopped in at Country Furniture & Gifts which is a store very ready for Halloween.

The store is located in part of the old restored flour mill built in 1877 by Archibald Gardner in West Jordan, Utah.  The store is very family oriented and houses many built-to-last items such as dining room tables, sofas, beds and chairs.  They are also famous for their rug room where many of their rugs are still USA made. As they say, "A rug makes a huge impact for a minimum investment to any room."


The home accessories and giftware are amazing!  They have all sorts of decor for all sorts of personalities. Please be sure to pay them a visit.  It's worth it!

What to do with Apricots: Homemade Fruit Leather

If you have access to an apricot tree I highly suggest making fruit leather.  This was my first time attempting any kind of dried fruit and it turned out heavenly!
Plus my house smelled great all day!!  And if you read a recent post you can see why that would be needed...lol

Apricot Fruit Leather

4 cups chopped apricots
sugar
cinnamon
nutmeg
lemon juice
1/2 c water

Add apricots and a 1/2 c of water to a saucepan on low heat.
Cover, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.
Add sugar 1 T at a time till it tastes good
Add lemon juice 1 tsp at a time to taste
Add cinnamon to taste
Add nutmeg to taste - I did a lot of tastin'!! :)
Simmer for 5 minutes on low heat until thickened a bit


In batches add mixture to a blender
Blend until smooooooooth
Prepare baking sheet: line with microwaveable safe plastic wrap
Add mixture to sheet about 1/4 inch thick


MAKE SURE the plastic wrap doesn't fold over mixture and that it doesn't touch your oven
