Find It On Etsy GIVEAWAY! The Classic Crow! (US/CAN) -CLOSED-

Mid Century American Bisque Co.
Susan, the shop creator of Classic Crow on Etsy is a "history buff" who is always on the "hunt" for cool vintage treasures. She has an eye for whats worth "resurrecting... for a new, re-purposed life." Classic Crow is inspired by Susan's upbringing as she worked in nature as a Park Ranger for 20 years, and was raised near the large San Jose flea market;  Susan quotes Pierre Bonnard on her Etsy site:

"Art will never be able to exist without nature."

I love that idea.  I can see that belief reflected in Susan's shop Classic Crow: Nature Art and Vintage, as it has an organic feel.

I was able to review these cute little birds and vase above.  I enjoy how unique they are compared to anything I can find at a regular store. Not only that, but it seems like a lot of stuff you find in stores these days aren't as good as quality as they were in "the olden" days.  These are sturdy.  ;) There are a variety of vintage items to choose from at Classic Crow including: kitchen, jewelry, home decor, clothing etc. Check out Classic Crow on Etsy.  Add some vintage and art to your life!

love the shop! it's so true that they don't make things like they used to... nowadays they want things to break/wear out easily so you'll replace it - give more of your hard-earned money to the already rich folks that don't need another hand towel in guest room #8 of mansion #3 :-)
love supporting the "littler" folks!

Gardner Village Series: Country Furniture & Gifts

Gardner Village is a local treasure. If you've never found your way down there, October is the month to do it!  The shop owners love Halloween! The village becomes a witch village and many times, shop owners will even dress up.   On my most recent trip to Gardner Village, I stopped in at Country Furniture & Gifts which is a store very ready for Halloween.

The store is located in part of the old restored flour mill built in 1877 by Archibald Gardner in West Jordan, Utah.  The store is very family oriented and houses many built-to-last items such as dining room tables, sofas, beds and chairs.  They are also famous for their rug room where many of their rugs are still USA made. As they say, "A rug makes a huge impact for a minimum investment to any room."

The home accessories and giftware are amazing!  They have all sorts of decor for all sorts of personalities. Please be sure to pay them a visit.  It's worth it!

What to do with Apricots: Homemade Fruit Leather

If you have access to an apricot tree I highly suggest making fruit leather.  This was my first time attempting any kind of dried fruit and it turned out heavenly!
Plus my house smelled great all day!!  And if you read a recent post you can see why that would be

Apricot Fruit Leather

4 cups chopped apricots
lemon juice
1/2 c water

Add apricots and a 1/2 c of water to a saucepan on low heat.
Cover, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.
Add sugar 1 T at a time till it tastes good
Add lemon juice 1 tsp at a time to taste
Add cinnamon to taste
Add nutmeg to taste - I did a lot of tastin'!! :)
Simmer for 5 minutes on low heat until thickened a bit

In batches add mixture to a blender
Blend until smooooooooth
Prepare baking sheet: line with microwaveable safe plastic wrap
Add mixture to sheet about 1/4 inch thick

MAKE SURE the plastic wrap doesn't fold over mixture and that it doesn't touch your oven
Bake at 140 degrees for 8 to 12 hours - fruit leathe…
