GIVEAWAY: Vinyl Daisy!!! Aimee's Adventures in Home Decor #2 -CLOSED-

Winner

This Beautiful decal made by Vinyl Daisy will be up in my little girls room in about 2 weeks!

Due to painting we've had to wait to make sure the paint is dry enough before we go forward.  I'm sure it will be well worth the wait! We are so excited! I have been trying for weeks to paint my little girls room.  Finally I was able to do part of it! Whew! It's hard with little ones right!? It was for me at least. :) I did most of the painting while my littliest was asleep.  My little girl "helped." lol!

I think it turned out great! And honestly, can I be frank, this was my first time painting solo, and my 2nd time ever painting! Embarassing I know, but it's gotta happen sometime right. ;)
So in about 2 weeks time I'll post the cute pictures of the finished product. We're really excited to see how it goes! And as for my little girl, she can't wait for her stuffed cat animals to play with the birds on the decal. haha!

Gardner Village Series: Country Furniture & Gifts

Gardner Village is a local treasure. If you've never found your way down there, October is the month to do it!  The shop owners love Halloween! The village becomes a witch village and many times, shop owners will even dress up.   On my most recent trip to Gardner Village, I stopped in at Country Furniture & Gifts which is a store very ready for Halloween.

The store is located in part of the old restored flour mill built in 1877 by Archibald Gardner in West Jordan, Utah.  The store is very family oriented and houses many built-to-last items such as dining room tables, sofas, beds and chairs.  They are also famous for their rug room where many of their rugs are still USA made. As they say, "A rug makes a huge impact for a minimum investment to any room."

The home accessories and giftware are amazing!  They have all sorts of decor for all sorts of personalities. Please be sure to pay them a visit.  It's worth it!

What to do with Apricots: Homemade Fruit Leather

If you have access to an apricot tree I highly suggest making fruit leather.  This was my first time attempting any kind of dried fruit and it turned out heavenly!
Plus my house smelled great all day!!  And if you read a recent post you can see why that would be needed...lol

Apricot Fruit Leather

4 cups chopped apricots
sugar
cinnamon
nutmeg
lemon juice
1/2 c water

Add apricots and a 1/2 c of water to a saucepan on low heat.
Cover, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes.
Add sugar 1 T at a time till it tastes good
Add lemon juice 1 tsp at a time to taste
Add cinnamon to taste
Add nutmeg to taste - I did a lot of tastin'!! :)
Simmer for 5 minutes on low heat until thickened a bit

In batches add mixture to a blender
Blend until smooooooooth
Prepare baking sheet: line with microwaveable safe plastic wrap
Add mixture to sheet about 1/4 inch thick

MAKE SURE the plastic wrap doesn't fold over mixture and that it doesn't touch your oven
Bake at 140 degrees for 8 to 12 hours - fruit leathe…
