I'm a LOSER

$402.18

That was my April grocery/toiletry budget number.  Not bad really, but my goal is $300..lol  hence....loser.  Anyway,  I plan on doing better this month.  I do WAY better when I always know where my budget is at.  Last month I put all my receipts in an envelope like I always do but I didn't add it up until just now.  That method will help you spend more every time. :)

Wow! Our food budget hasn't been $300 for a couple years now. We currently budget $400 for groceries. Of course, this includes toiletries, cleaning supplies, food, eating out, etc. I don't break all those out into different budget items. I know some people who do break it out. I do know exactly what you mean when you say not adding up receipts will help spend more every time! I struggle to get the motivation to enter them into my budget spreadsheet so we know exactly how much is left in our budget categories in a timely manner.
This blog is what motivates me to keep track. I need to step it up! It's not really about the number...more about being SO far from my goal...lol A spreadsheet....NICE!

Don't beat yourself up too much. The cost of food & toiletries is slowly rising. Think about it - if every single thing you buy just goes up by 4 cents, your total spending for a month can jump by leaps & bounds. And there are some politician who refuse to admit we're in a recession!
Your right Alicia! I forget about that!

GIVEAWAY: ERGObaby Carrier! -CLOSED-

Winner

I have carried my little boy in a baby carrier since he was born. I love the convenience of strapping him in and not worrying about the hassle of a bulky stroller. It's also a comfort to hold my little guy close and safe. When I had the chance to review the ERGObaby carrier, I was thrilled to try something that could extend my baby wearing days.

My first test was a true one...Costco. I admit that I didn't really look at the directions when I put the carrier on in the parking lot. But I didn't need to! After one look at a picture in the user manual, I strapped my 20 pound boy in, placed my little girl in the shopping cart, and started on my way through the aisles of Costco. I immediately noticed that the carrier more evenly distributed my son's weight than my normal carrier and held my boy high so my legs weren't bumping into his. This made it significantly easier to tote him around the store. Indeed my normal trips to Costco are exhausting. But after…
