Food Storage While Saving- last one for the month

This is what we got this week that went towards storage.  Our total for groceries and toiletries was $218.66 for a 5 week month.  I thought with that total we were taking too much from our food storage and not putting enough in, but after reminding myself what we've been adding I think we're good!

2010 Gift Box

Since I've been actively looking for deals and spending less money, I've bought things for cheap or gotten stuff for free that Im now putting in a Gift Box.  So when holidays and birthday's roll around I'm prepared.  Because what usually happens is I wait until the last minute and end up buying something lame and not on sale.  This is what I have so far and it is included in my $218 total.  I have no extra budget for gifts yet this year....maybe with this I won't need one.

Swagbucks and Shop At Home are helping as well.  Both are free sites that reward you for doing what you already do online.  Since last month I've earned $15 in Amazon gift cards and $23.22 with little to no extra effort.  It's not a mortgage payment, but it eliminates a need for a gift or Christmas budget :)

I need a bigger box....  and its only January!

MEAL PLAN week five

Last night we had Baked Lemon Thighs & Potatoes and its a definite keeper.  My 2 year old practically licked her plate clean.....oh...
I mean literally. :)

Here it is before:
and after:

My food photography needs some work but it was really good!  And I happened to have all the ingredients. (I used lemon concentrate instead of fresh)

Two Thumbs up!

For the rest of the week:

Chicken salad - I make this almost every week :)  And I eat it like I haven't seen food in days.  It's not a pretty sight I'm told.

Chili - I will pull this from the freezer. Made it last week and we all love it...Thanks again Allison!
OH!  McCormick Chili seasoning coupon in paper yesterday.

Crock Pot Taco Soup - New recipe that I will finally get around to making tomorrow. :)
Rotel tomatoes coupon in paper yesterday.

Spaghetti - from a box and a can....just because.

Diapers!

Walgreens and Target are having deals on Huggies and Pampers this week.

Go here for Walgreens
Go here for Target
Go here for Huggies Coupons

I HAD to get Pull-Ups today so I only had $5.00 worth of coupons I could use, but I still got 3 packs of diapers for $5.65 ea.

Here's the detail for me at Walgreens
1 pack Huggies Pull -Ups $8.99
2 packs Huggies Little Movers $17.98
(didn't have Pure & Natural)

Used
2 $2/1 Huggies Little Movers
1 $1/1 Any Huggies Product

= $21.97 plus $5 back in Register Rewards,  hence $5.65 ea or .18 cents a diaper.

My Goal to $200

$218.66
So I didn't quite make the $200 goal, but considering we used to spend anywhere from $500-$700 on groceries and toiletries, Im calling this a victory :)  I think we even ate better this month....lol...
Planning is really making a difference.  My only complaint is that we are probably using as much food storage as we're adding and I LOVE, love, love Costco.  So if I can't fit that into a 4 week month (this month was 5) I may have to adjust the number.
And I know its not the 31st yet, but I just did the shopping for the week so Im pretty sure we're done till then.
