I don't know why I didn't think of this a long time ago. Making granola is a HUGE money saver at my house. We go through the stuff like it's diapers! I made this yesterday and I happened to have all the ingredients in our storage...what luck! It is SUPER easy. Here's the recipe I used. Let me know if you have a good one.

Did this granola fall apart or cool into clumps? I just purchased some granola at our co-op and it didn't clump very well. Also, do you know why it has to be refriderated? Looks good!
It didn't all clump. You only add 1/2 cup of syrup so I bet if you added a little more it would clump better. I've never made it before so I don't have much experience but I thought it tasted amazing! About the refrigeration...my guess is because of the syrup. I know some recipes call for honey or oil and they probably don't need to be kept cold. Does that sound right??
i use a recipe i found in a paper somewhere long ago (i think city weekly actually). anyway, it's like your recipe in that it doesn't call for oil - just syrup. i don't refrigerate mine - not sure if the original said to or not.
4 cups oats
4 cups other stuff (nuts or fruit - your choice - i usually use craisins and pecans or blueberries and coconut and pecans - and recently i've started doing 5 cups oats and just 3 cups extra stuff because i'm cheap)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp allspice
3/4 c brown sugar (i've reduced this to 1/2 c lately and i think it's great)
mix it all together and then pour 1 c maple syrup over it all and mix it again. i've reduced this to about 3/4 c and it doesn't clump as well, but with 1 c it clumps perfectly (by my standards).
bake on pam coated cookie sheet for 20 minutes at 325.
Thank you!!! Im going to try this!
Thanks! I will try it this weekend.
I love this recipe.
BTW, I didn't refrigerate mine... and it was just fine. :) But then again...it didn't last long :)
